Quick verdict

AllSaints is best for shoppers who want high-quality, edgy wardrobe staples. Especially leather jackets. From a brand with some sustainability infrastructure. It holds more certifications than most mid-market retailers (GOTS, GRS, RWS) and recently launched a Repair Rewear program. However, the absence of living wage evidence, heavy use of animal-derived materials, and no published supplier list mean conscious consumers should approach with eyes wide open.

Rating breakdown

Materials & Sourcing
2.5/5

Holds GOTS, OCS, GRS, RWS certifications for a curated "Conscious Choices" selection. Uses some organic cotton, recycled polyester, chrome-free leather, and ECONYL nylon. But certified materials represent an estimated 5–10% of total sourcing.

Labor & Ethics
2.5/5

ETI-based Code of Conduct, social audits on all Tier 1 suppliers via Origin platform, SEDEX partnership. But no published supplier list, no living wage evidence, 128 manufacturing partners across Turkey, Portugal, China, India. Long-term Not For Sale anti-trafficking partnership (£310K+ since 2011) is commendable.

Environmental Impact
2/5

Goal to reduce emissions 30% by 2030 but no published current data or verified roadmap. No science-based targets. Leather Working Group and Canopy memberships address tannery and forest impacts. But 4–6 collections/year with thousands of SKUs undermines gains.

Transparency
3/5

Modern Slavery statements, ESG team, Origin sourcing platform, Code of Conduct published. But no supplier list, no aggregate materials data, no detailed emissions/water/waste reporting.

Price-to-Value
3/5

Premium pricing ($55 tees, $500+ leather jackets) delivers good quality and durability on leather goods. But the sustainability premium is only partially justified. Competitors like Nudie Jeans or Reformation offer more transparency at similar prices.

What they do well

  • Repair Rewear program. Launched 2024, offers free leather jacket repairs at select London stores, a genuine circularity step though limited in scope
  • 13+ year Not For Sale partnership (£310K+) — sustained anti-human-trafficking commitment including employee visits to frontline projects
  • Multiple material certifications: GOTS, GRS, RWS provide third-party verification for the "Conscious Choices" edit
  • Gender equity leadership: 61% female workforce, 0% median gender pay gap for 5+ consecutive years

Room for improvement

  • No living wage evidence. Despite auditing Tier 1 suppliers, AllSaints provides no evidence workers are paid a living wage anywhere. Critical gap at this price point
  • No published supplier list. In an era when H&M and Nike publish full lists, AllSaints' refusal is a transparency red flag
  • Responsible materials remain marginal. Organic cotton, recycled polyester, and certified wool need to move from niche capsule to brand default

About AllSaints

AllSaints was founded in 1994 in East London as a menswear wholesale brand. Named after All Saints Road in Notting Hill, the brand opened its first standalone store in 1997 and expanded into womenswear in 1998. After near-collapse in 2011 (£53M debt), Lion Capital acquired a 76% stake for £105M. Today AllSaints operates ~281 stores across 27 countries with ~2,400 employees and revenues of ~£364M.

Best known for its iconic Balfern and Dalby leather biker jackets, AllSaints manufactures across 128 partners in Turkey, Portugal, China, and India. Certifications including GOTS, GRS, OCS, and RWS apply to a curated "Conscious Choices" selection. The brand uses some chrome-free and vegetable-tanned leather, dope-dyed fibres, ECONYL regenerated nylon, and REPREVE recycled polyester. But conventional materials dominate.

The ESG team conducts social audits on all Tier 1 suppliers via the Origin platform, and the Repair Rewear program offers free leather jacket repairs at four London stores. AllSaints is a member of SEDEX, Leather Working Group, Textile Exchange, and Canopy.

Shipping is free on US orders over $100 with free returns within 28 days. T-shirts run $55–99, knitwear $149–249, leather jackets $499–829. For the price, competitors like Reformation and Nudie Jeans deliver stronger environmental accountability.
